Chiari expert speaks March 14

Dr. John J. Oro, a specialist in the rare disorders chiari and syringomyelia, will speak at a free seminar next month.

Oro is medical director of the Neurosurgery Center of Colorado and founded the Chiari Care Center. His topic is "The Chiari I Malformation & Syringomyelia: A Current Synthesis."

Also speaking is Katie Klas, a pediatric nurse practitioner at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Her topic is "Chiari in the Pediatric Patient."

The seminar runs from noon to 3 p.m. March 14 in the conference center at the Disability Empowerment Center, 5025 E. Washington St. Phoenix. It is presented by the Arizona Syringo Chiari Support Group in association with St. Joseph's Hospital and Medial Center and Arizona Bridge to Independent Living.
