Support Group Meeting May 20th 2010

Yes, this is short notice, but the speaker we have lined up for our May
Meeting is great. Her name and title is Ashley E. Bridwell, LMSW. We have
asked her to address the family dynamics of persons being diagnosed with a
life long conditions/diseases. How these affect the actual person as well
as how it affects the spouse and other family members. We have asked her to
please delve into the emotional aspects, and offer coping skills to help us
better understand ourselves and our families.

Ashley grew up in Phoenix and attended ASU where she completed her bachelors
and received her LMSW, Licensed Masters of Social Work. She completed her
internship at Banner Desert Medical Center on the neuro-ortho unit, before
coming to St Joes. Ashley has worked at St Joes for 6 yrs. in the
Outpatient Rehab Dept., specializing in neurological disabilities. Her
responsibilities include coordinating care, brief solution focused
counseling interventions, advocacy on behalf of patients with insurance
companies and other community resources and education on disability
adjustment.

Besides her work at St Joes, Ashley facilitates a support group for stroke,
caregiver and young adult traumatic brain injured, is a commissioner for the
Mayor's Commission on Disability Issues and has recently become involved in
a local project called Home, Health, Hope or H3. H3 focuses on finding
solutions to end chronic homelessness of the medically vulnerable population
.
