January 20 2011 Meeting

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

And to start off the New Year we have some wonderful news. Finally a doctor from the Barrow community is recognizing our group and how important support for persons with Chiari Malformation and syringomyelia really is.

Joanie Cacciola, RN BSN, CNRN,CCRC, Clinical Nurse Coordinator to Peter Nakaji, MD contacted us and is very interested to learn more about our support group. Dr. Nakaji, in addition to his clinical practice, is the
Director of the Neurosurgery Residency Program at Barrow Neurological Institute, the largest neurosurgery residency program in North America. Dr. Nakaji has several patients with Chiari and is veryinterested to see that they get continuous support after surgery. What a novel idea. Yes! Isn't this exciting!!!!....thought you would think so.

Furthermore, Joanie is going to attend our meeting on January 20th to meet us and see who and what our support group is all about. Therefore, we must put our best foot forward.....so please plan to attend this meeting to show some solidarity and good numbers for our Support Group. Joanie Cacciola and Dr. Nakaji could become allies and help us in our efforts to bring support not only to his patients which are in essence YOU AND ME, plus many more.

During this meeting as part of the "getting to know you" process, our plan is to reintroduce ourselves and briefly discuss our conditions and how we came to the group. That way she could get a snap shot view of who we are and why we are committed to our group and how we found the support group.

SO COME AND BE A PART OF THIS NEW BEGINNING. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR YOUR SUPPORT GROUP. IT MEANS A LOT TO YOU AND ME AND PERHAPS TO THE FUTURE OF OUR LITTLE GROUP.

When: Thursday, January 20, 2011
11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Where: St. Joseph's Outpatient Rehab, Conference Rm
114 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix (SW corner of Thomas and 1st Ave.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUOUS SUPPORT. SEE YOU THERE!!!!
